NEWSARCHIVE

20-09-2005

The last few months we've been very busy with recording a Tribute Album: The Best Of Andre Hazes, performed by Irish Whip. We wanted to record a few covers by one of the best Dutch singers ever who died on September 23rd in 2004. The planning was to release the album at the 23rd of September, exactly one year after is death.

The next songs were planned on being on the album, both in a Dutch and a German version: De Vlieger (Der Flieger), Eenzaam Zonder Jou (Einsam Ohne Dich), Geef Mij Je Angst (Gib Mir Deine Angst), Kleine Jongen (Kleiner Kerl) and Zomer (Sommer).

But: we came to the conclusion that is was way too difficult for us to handle. The songs we liked (and were able to play!) were just too difficult for us to sing. Normally we don't really mind if it sounds 'not too good', but this was too much (or better said: too worse).

The result is, that we will stop recording for the Tribute Album, but we already have recorded a few songs. We will place one song at the website coming Friday, out of respect for Andre Hazes (and our disappointed fans, off course).

We apologize if you're disappointed. We might use the best recordings as bonus tracks on a future album, but that's not sure yet.

While the new album is out and the summer is coming, Irish Whip has done very little the past few months. There were a few gigs, but that's about it. Currently we are working on a new video for the song Meneer, U Bent Een Nerd. Hopefully it will be done in a few weeks, 'cause in July the band will go on vacation.

We have not recorded new songs yet. Not much is happening on that front. We might record some old tunes in a different way, we'll let you know if it turns out te be something more than just an idea.

20-03-2005
The recording is done and the new album is ready! At the moment we're working on the artwork and other stuff concerning the album. Here's the complete tracklist:

Ad Libitum Ad Fundum
1. Intro
2. Da sind Wir Wieder
3. Die Kip Hoort In Het Water
4. The Harvest
5. Meneer, U Bent Een Nerd
6. Ruotsalainen Homo
7. Keep Rockin
8. Intermediair Bitch
9. You Think
10. Ik Word Oud
11. The Bitch Is a Fridge
12. If I Told You
13. How Can You
14. Ruotsalainen Homo (Acoustic Version)

We also shot a new video which is available at the Audio-section.

Here's some good news: our new album is almost ready!! We have to record one song, then it's completely done. Unfortunately, our recording device (Yamaha AW16G) has got some technical problems. It seems that we cannot record on it anymore, unless we format the harddisk. But if we do that, all the data will be lost, so all our newly recorded songs will be lost forever!! Off course we already mixed the recorded songs to our computer, so they are safe for the new album. The last song however, we will have to record on our old recorder (Boss BR-8). Luckily, the Yamaha still plays the music, so if we decide that we're not happy with the current mixes, we'll still be able to make a new mix. We could choose to skip the last song, but we think that it must be recorded now, otherwise there's no point of recording it at all.

Well, the album title and the setlist is clear, the artwork is not ready yet. We have some ideas, but nothing is definitive. First we wanted to bring the record out at March 17th (St. Patrick's Day), but that turns out to be too soon. We're not sure when the release will be, but we assure you it will be soon. When the last song is recorded we'll anounce the official date.

Two weeks ago we also did some recordings for a new video! Those recordings are not completely ready, so it will take a while for you to see it. In the meantime, we made another video. The making process of that one was a lot easier. When we anounce the album title and all the other stuff, we will put the video on our website.

25-12-2004

We have done some vocals recordings, but we're not yet satisfied with the quality. We're confident we'll get it sound good, so don't worry! When there songs are recorded, the total of 'complete' songs will be 9. And there are several ideas for new songs, so the new album might come sooner than you think. Not within a month off course, but long before the summer begins!

23-11-2004
The first five songs we recorded are now mixed and finalized. Off course, if we think they need to be re-done, we will do it again, but the idea is that these songs are completely done. Beside these songs we have some more songs. Some of them only need the vocals to be recorded, some of them need everything. To summarize: the album is still in progress.

12-10-2004
Finally an update!

During the summer nothing much  happened, but from September we have recorded five songs for the new album!! Beside these five songs we also have a lot of lyrics and ideas for new songs. Not all the lyrics are usable, some of them are more than two years old. However, we're working hard on the already recorded songs to give them the right sound and we're also busy to put the new songs together, to mix the lyrics and the music. We'll try to put some sound samples on the website as soon as we can.

We already have an album title, but we won't announce that before most of the songs are recorded and properly mixed.

18-05-2004
Last weekend we finished the recordings for the cover album! Saturday the 22nd the album will be released. The title is Suitcase and it contains 16 tracks:

1 Buffy Theme (Nerf Herder)
2 American Jesus (Bad Religion)
3 TeleRomeo (K3)
4 Böser Wolf (Die Toten Hosen)
5 Purest Of Pain (Son By Four)
6 Buddy Holly (Weezer)
7 Het Dorp (Wim Zonneveld)
8 Yoshimi (The Flaming Lips )
9 The Model (Kraftwerk)
10 Meidengroep (Kinderen Voor Kinderen)
11 Irene Wilde (Alejandro Escovedo)
12 Ik Verscheurde Je Foto (Koos Alberts)
13 I Can Hear Music (Beach Boys)
14 Insane In The Brain(killa) (Cypress Hill)
15 With A Little Love (Modern Talking)
16 Blizzard of 77 (Nada Surf)

We hope you will like it, we know we do!

03-05-2004
We have recorded about 6 songs so far for our cover album. These songs are ready (drums, bass, guitar and vocals recorded) and we have about another 4 waiting for the vocals to be recorded. That means we're going the right direction! We have also done some testing and rehearsing with a live drum last weekend. It sounds like we've never sounded before, but if it's good or bad? If it sounds good enough we might even use it on a song, but we're not sure about that yet. We might record an Irish Whip classic with the new drum, just to give you an idea what it sounds like.

We're planning to do some serious recording the next couple of weeks so we can finish the cover album and start recording and making music for our new album, with no covers at all!

12-02-2004
No news about recordings, but we do have some news about the Irish Whip picks: we ordered them! When we got them, we'll put a picture up on the site and you'll be able to buy them off course.

Mr Pivo wrote a song! Lyrics, music and even a solo. To be honest, mr Im haven't really listened to it yet, but it's a start for a new album. There are already some idea's about music, lyrics and the concept of the album, but nothing exciting enough to mention here.

25-01-2004
Yesterday we finally re-recorded a new version of Purest Of Pain. After a few mixed we found the right one, so we're done with that song (i.e. for now). We also are putting more effort in creating the layout for our custom made picks. When we have ordered them, we'll show the what they will look like.

21-01-2004
There hasn't been done much, but as we listened to the existing version of Purest Of Pain (you van find a sound sample in our ), we came to the conclusion that it doesn't sound very good. Some guitars and the vocals must be re-recorded. If we only had much time ...

11-01-2004
Some progression has been made: the vocals of the song With A Little Love has been recorded today. It's not an easy song to sing, but mr Pivo did his best and we think it's ok. It will probably appear on our forthcoming cover album. We are also discussing which songs we will record for it, so that's not sure at the moment.

Another cool thing we're working on: special Irish Whip plectrums! That's right: plectrums with an Irish Whip logo on it. When we have more details, we will let you know.

04-01-2004
Well, despite the holidays we haven't made much progress with the recordings. We still have to make a final list of songs we want to and will cover.

24-12-2003

We are busy recording some covers for our cover album. It's going well and because we got some free time during the holidays we expect to make some progression.

15-09-2003
We have made some serious progress on the new album! At this moment we have 11 songs that are ready and we're writing on one more. After that's done the album will be completely recorded and available for all you fans! For now, just be patient; when we got some more news we'll let you know.

18-07-2003
We're back from our well decerved vacation to Mallorca. It was hot and heavy, just like Irish Whip is! For our Dutch fans who are interested what we did on the Spanish Island: go to http://www.posermen.com and there you will find a little story about our holiday.
While we were staying there, we wrote some new lyrics. Better, we wrote about 7 new lyrics! We must take a serious look whether we can use them all, but at least it shows there is some activity. No activity whatsoever at the recording front. Maybe this weekend, maybe not. We'll keep you informed.

15-06-2003
It's been a while, but the band is still busy. Well, sometimes ...
Last time we had something to say there were about two songs ready and now there are six (6!) songs ready, two are ready for the vocals, one song will be re-recorded and two more songs are ready to be recorded completely. That makes it 11 songs!! OK, it will take some time before it's all done, but there is progress and that's the most important thing.
In two weeks the band will take a well deserved vacation. They are asked to be part in the amazing TV game 'Prickly Heat' in Magaluf, Mallorca. They will participate for N. Ireland. Allthough they're not really from N Ireland (and if they were, they would be from REAL Ireland) they can play along with all the other morons from the British Island. You'll hear it all about it here first!

28-04-2003
There has been some recording! Two songs are completely done and another one is almost ready. That means that the band is finally on its way to the new album. For a certain song, of which all the music had been recorded, it's not sure whether it will make the album, because mr Pivo complained about it. However, mr Im is in favorite of it, so they will be arguing about it some more.

09-03-2003
The band is writing lyrics at the moment. A lot of songs are half done, but that they're doing something is worth mentioning! No recording yet, but after the new songs are witten and well rehearsed there will be some recording. We're sorry to tell you we don't know when. But they're busy!

22-02-2003
Irish Whip has found some time to do some recording! They recorded a brand new song, for the next album, but also two covers. They're planning a special project for a song with MC Brainkilla. Irish Whip has done the song by themselves, so now it's waiting for the part of Briankilla. It will be very special and off course you can hear it on this site, when it's ready off course.

31-01-2003
The album sales are going really well. It's the most succesfull one ever! Thanks to all our fans for that.
Due to the moving out and start living on his own by mr Pim there aren't any activities concerning a possible new record. There are already some new songs, but it's hard to find the time to practice them, let alone recording.

14-12-2002
The new album is out! It's called 'Was Hast Du Gelernt?' and real fans know that it comes from the song 'Herr Kaktus'. The frontcover is about that theme also. First the band made a different one, but they couldn't agree how to use it. At the last moment they decided to go with the 'Herr Kaktus' theme. We all hope you like it! It looks like this album will be the most succefull one, because there are quit a few orders.

06-12-2002
You all have been dying to know what the setlist is for the new album, the Best Of. Some of you even voted for it about six months ago. Well, today the last song was recorded so that's all done. The mixing might take some more time, but we are proud to present you the final list for the album:

1 Skeletor
2 Gekke Koeien
3 Asshole I
4 Herr Kaktus
5 Asshole II
6 Irish Whip
7 Satan Rings My Bell
8 One Cool Moddafocka
9 Asshole III
10 My First Alfa
11 Doe Toch Niet Zo Raar
12 Maggie
13 Posermen
14 www. com.nl
15 Ozzy
16 Aufsalzen
17 Uit De Goot
18 Jij Bent Een Sjon
19 Jerry Springer
20 Posermen On Tour

You might have noticed that it's in chronological order. The band thought that that's the right order. Also: no covers.

The band is still working on the booklet that comes with the cd.

20-11-2002

The Best Of is almost ready. For only one song thechorus must been done, the rest of the songs are being listened to by thebandmembers so they can judge if the mixing and recording have been doneproperly. At the same time they are thinking about the covers they want touse for the album and other ideas for it.

The album will probably not be named 'Best Of' or 'Their Greatest Hits', butit will have a proper name. The band has already chosen a name, but we'llkeep you guessing for another period of time. About one week for the releasewe'll publish it. We'll give you no hints! Well, one: it's in the traditionof Irish Whip titles ...

15-10-2002
The band is back in town! They had a very well deserved vacation in Spain and now they're back to rock again!! Unfortunately they did not write any new songs, but they had fun anyway.
Last weekend another song was recorded and the number of songs that must be done is decreasing by the week. It seems that the deadline will be no problem. So: you can expect The Best Of by Christmas in the shops! Well, at least on this website...

24-09-2002

The last two weeks Irish Whip recorded three songs for the Best Of! The total amount of songs that are ready is now 18. It looks like the deadline of end November, half December will be possible for the band.
The band takes a 15 days break, so they will be back half October and then they will get started recording again.

18-08-2002

Yesterday Irish Whip did a succesfull gig at the 'Vrijwilligersfeest' at the Poserdome in Headville, Lake Harlem. It was a rather short gig, but it had a few surprises. Here's the setlist:
1 Irish Whip
2 My First Alfa
3 Damn I think I love you
4 Baby One More Time
5 Poep aan de muur (previously unreleased)
6 Posermen
Mr Pivo forgot the lyrics of that last song, but it was a succes anyway.

No news from the recording front. At the moment it's too hot to do anything about that. The re-recording has taken place, but the final mixing not yet. Also a new song has been recorded, only the vocals has to be done.

29-07-2002

At this moment, Irish Whip has recorded 8 songs for the new album! Add 3 songs which don't have to be recorded again and that's 11 songs already! That's the good news, the 'bad' news is, that 2 songs will be re-recorded again, because the band doesn't like them completely.

Although it seems far away, they want the record be done by the end of the year. That's because by then both Pivo and Im will be moving to another appartment. Pivo is moving back to Headville and Im is moving out of his parents house. As a result, they will not use the A16R Studio's anymore, but they will move to the V94R Studio's. That studio is not ready yet so the name might change, but because of the discontinuing of the A16R Studio's the Best Of album must be ready before it will close.

10-07-2002

Although you are not able to vote for the Best Of anymore and despite we promised to anounce te definitive list for it, we are still unable to tell you which songs will be on it. Simply because we don't know it yet. Most songs are certain, but some songs aren't. In any case, the band is still recording so the work has not been stopped.

23-06-2002

It seems like all the votes for the Best Of are in, so we will decide which songs will be on them as soon as possible. The album will probably contain about 20-22 songs and almost every one of them will be recorded again, but you already knew that. Further we want to tell you, that mr Pivo has thrown his discus to a remarkable distance of 30.49 meters!

13-06-2002

Just a few more days votes are allowed, after that it's useless. Maybe this weekend or next week we will anounce the definitive list for The Best Of. After that the band can go further with the recording, which they already started, as you might know.

21-05-2002

The votes are coming in for The Best Of. A few surprises and a lot of obvious choices. Therefore Irish Whip is continuing the recording for the album, three songs are recorded but must be mixed. In the mp3-section you can find two examples of how the songs will sound like with the new recording equipment. A great improvement we must say!

11-05-2002

You can vote for your favorite Irih Whip songs. The best songs will appear on the next album, The Best Of. Irish Whip already recorded two songs for that album. They will continue to do that, because for a number of songs it's obvious that they will be on the Best Of. Soon there will be an audio sample on this site to give you an idea of how old songs will hear when they are re-recorded with the new recording possibilities.

30-04-2002

Irish Whip is making new songs, even though there is a 'Best Of' planned first. The band will decide very soon which songs will make it to that album. There will probably 15-20 songs on it. Also the fans will be asked to give their favorite songs in order to help Irish Whip in their choice.

31-03-2002

The live performance at The Poserdome went very well yesterday. The crowd was very enthousiastic, especially   when the hit 'Aufsalzen' was played. The gig has been recorded on video and there is a chance that a song or two will appear on this site (the music, video is not possible, because it's not a digital camera).

Irish Whip is also making new songs already. Nothing definitive yet, but they will continue to work as always.

18-02-2002

The new album is out! It came out officially last Saturday, the 16th, but due to some technical problems the site couldn't be updated. Now it's done, so you can find all the new lyrics, guitartabs and songtitles on this site. Later this week there will be some soundclips to give an idea of the sound of the new album. The selling is going pretty good, so it seems to be a succes.

On the musical front not much news, as expected, but we can confirm that Irish Whip will play at the Poserdome on March 30th. Hopefully till then!
