The Band
What does Irish Whip mean?
It’s a move in American wrestling (like WWF): pushing your opponent to the corner of the ring. It's also the name of a cocktail.

Why has the band chosen this name?
No special reason, it just sounded right.

Do the bandmembers come from Ireland?
No, they come from the Netherlands: Headville, Lake Harlem. They have no idea what an Irish Whip has got to do with Ireland, but because of the name, you might see some Irish stuff on this page and on the cd’s.

The Bandmembers
How many members does the band have?
Only two, although it might sound like there are at least four members. See the Biography for the story.

Who are the Posermen and why are they called so?
The Posermen are the members of Lake Harlem International Track & Field (see the Picture area for a picture!). They call themselves that way, because they think they’re cool (and as you can see at the picture they are!!). They got their own website: www.posermen.com

Will Tamar appear on future albums?
That’s not sure. She might and she might not.

Who is dr FE?
He a 29 years old man who wrote the song Vera, about ten years ago. He was invited to sing it on the second album, which he did. And off course he's also a Poserman.

What is Lake Harlem International Track & Field?
This is the athletic team where the band has got a membership (for over 16 years already!). Lake Harlem is a sort of direct translation out of Dutch of the real name (Haarlemmermeer). The International part stands for the fact there are a lot of nationalities on the team: Dutch, German, Finnish (from the mother’s side), Suisse (a grandfather of one of the members). The Slovenian guy has left, unfortunately.

Personal Stuff
What are their real names?
Their real names are: Ivo van der Horst and Pim van der Horst. They were born in Haarlem and are currently living in Hoofddorp.

When were they born?
They’re twins, so they’re both born on 05-11-1975.

Are they married?
Like real rockstars, they’re not married. Women who are interested can send an e-mail with a photo. The band promises to react!

Do they have a life?
Absolutely! They have been accused of not having a life several times, but that’s not true. Their life is: sleeping, eating, working, running, studying, playing snooker, playing on the computer, going to soccermatches and, off course, making and playing music!

Gigs
Why does the band never perform?
Because no club wants them. However, they perform almost every night in their bedroom for a very small audience (everybody who can hear them; about 4 people).

Is there a chance of me playing in the band?
Abso*fuckin*lutely! If you like the music, can play drums of bassguitar (maybe guitar), have a room to practice and you live in the area (Headville, Lake Harlem) you’re more than welcome! Just contact the band.

Are there livetracks availble?
Yes! One gig has been recorded. It’s not very good quality, but some song are pretty good. Maybe the next album (the fifth) will have a live-bonustrack.

The Music
Why does Pivo sing like a bear?
Because he has not got the most beautiful voice ever. On the other hand it’s not that bad. In the future there will be less songs who will sound like that, because his throat hurts big time after "singing" a song.

On what instruments do they play?
Im plays always on his Lake Placid Blue Fender Standard American Stratocaster. Pivo doesn’t play guitar, bus he’s got a Ibanez Joey Satriani. The drums and bass are coming from the magnificant program ImpulsTracker.
Since 2002 Im also plays on his Gibson Les Paul Special. The bass is played with the Fender, emulated by the Boss BR-8.

Who is Johnny Whitehorse/Witpeerd?
He is an athlete. He always runs in Adidas, so it looks like he’s sponsored. He’s not! He’s not really a bad guy (the band doesn’t even know him personal), so there will be no more songs about him.

Why do they hate mobile phones so much?
Because the people who uses them are very irritating: they always talk too loud, in a crowded area about nothing important. The only thing they want to know is where the other person is. Very irrelevant.

What’s wrong with Alfa Romeo’s?
Everything! They’re only sold are lease cars and are driven by people who can’t drive. They drive too fast, too close to your car, they always have their foglights on etc. etc.

How many cd-singles have been brought on the market?
Three so far: Vera, Herr Kaktus and Festival Of Light
